The Master in Sport Performance: Training and Functional Evaluation is a postgraduate university degree that aims to deepen the graduate’s education in one of the five paths available for the Physical Activity and Sports Sciences: Sports Training.
The Master in Sport Performance: Training and Functional Evaluation arises from the desire to meet current market demands. The student will first be provided with the knowledge necessary in relation to the sport performance field. Given its blended learning nature, the student will then be facilitated with learning and practice environments to assimilate said contents, as well as, for their contact with high performing first rate professionals.
The Master aims to offer knowledge, training and tools so that the professional within the physical and sports activity field is trained in properly planning, developing and evaluating those strategies that will guarantee the final quality of the assignments within sport performance and likewise assume an ethical and responsible commitment as required of the profession.

Diploma
Upon completion, the student will get the diploma Master’s Degree in Sports Performance: Training and Functional Evaluation, issued by the European University of the Atlantic.

Duration
The Master in Sport Performance: Training and Functional Evaluation has 60 credits.
The duration of the Master in Sport Performance: Training and Functional Evaluation is 12 months. During this period, the student must have successfully passed all the corresponding evaluations as well as the Final Project.
Objectives
General Objective
- Planning, developing and properly evaluating strategies that guarantee the end quality of professional tasks within the field of sport performance while assuming the ethical commitments and responsibilities required of the profession.
Specific Objectives
- Relate the functioning of the different physiological systems and structures during exercise and maximize the athlete’s performance.
- Develop a correct programming and periodization in high performance sports training and quantify a thorough training load.
- Apply the most appropriate strategies and interventions for the elite athlete’s functional valuation.
- Use of technological tools in high performance itself in the valuation of physical conditioning, and the prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
- Detect the psychological factors that influence high-level athletes during pre-competition, competition and post-competition periods.
- Identify the influence of nutrition and food as a tool in improving the elite athlete’s performance.

Modalidad
This program has a blended learning structure, whereby the student will combine the study of contents and participation through the Virtual Campus, following a scheduled structure implemented during the face-to-face sessions that will be held at the European University of the Atlantic in Santander (Spain). Students will have two academic program start dates: August and February. In this way, the student will carry out face-to-face education during the month of July 2024, in which he/she will address and apply the key aspects of the different subjects of the program. For those students who travel from other regions of the peninsula or the continent, there is the possibility of doing extracurricular work placement in clubs and sports associations close to the university.
On-site Sessions
The face-to-face sessions are of great interest for the student to complement their online studies. Thus, these sessions will be held during the month of July 2024 at the European University of the Atlantic in Santander (Spain).

The on-site sessions will be led by internationally recognized professionals with extensive experience in both individual and team sports, who have led the preparation of athletes and teams to compete in the best competitions, such as national championships, world championships, NBA competitions, etc. In addition, these professionals have extensive research experience, as well as numerous invitations to congresses, conferences and lectures at international level.

Practical classes and workshops in small groups, in which students will have to use the different tools available at the university to evaluate athletes, analyze actions, design, plan and execute proposals, through practical simulations.
- Visits to professional sports clubs and centers, in order to experience how the contents and competencies acquired in the Master's program are applied in the real professional environment.
In this way, the student will play a leading role during the classroom phase of this program, in order to be able to face any professional challenge in the field of sports performance.
Semipresencial
Blended learning methodology: The study will combine the study of the contents and the student’s participation via the Virtual Campus and the practical lessons that will take place, following a classroom-based methodology, at the European University of the Atlantic’s facilities, located in Santander, Spain. The classroom-based learning will take place during March and May, on the weekends
Classroom Sessions
Classroom sessions, for those students enrolled in the blended learning modality, are of great interest for the student to complement their online studies. These sessions will likewise be conducted during the weekends between the months of March, April and May. Classroom sessions will be based on three main pillars: lectures relating to international level benchmarks, practices and workshops in small groups assessed by professors, and guided visits to related sports centers.
- Classroom sessions will be led by recognized professionals at the international level, with extensive experience in both individual and team sports and who have managed athlete and team preparations to compete in the best competitions, such as at national and global championships, competitions in NBA, etc. In addition, these professionals have extensive research experience, as well as numerous invitations to congresses, conferences and presentations at the international level.

- Visits to professional sports clubs and centers, , in order to experience how to apply the contents and competences acquired in the master’s degree into the real-world profession.
In this way, the student will have great prominence during the classroom attendance phase of this program, in order to meet any professional challenge in the athletic performance field.
Study Plan
In this way, the Master in Sport Performance: Training and Functional Valuation, counts with 60 ECTS credits distributed throughout the two semesters of the academic year. The total number of ECTS is distributed in eleven subjects that include carrying out an internship (6 credits) and the Master's Final Project (9 credits). The rest of the subjects, all mandatory, are all 5 credits each.
