Program Presentation
The Master in Public Health offers an integral training with tools and competencies that allow professionals to cope with the public health problems with a global understanding that enables them to render health services with the necessary quality and assistance. This program looks for a training that is in accordance with the changes on the external and internal environments present in society and that are in line with the scientific and technological progress. All this by theoretical knowledge, analysis of practical cases and exercises that provide the participant with a breakthrough in the understanding of nursing in its main areas of action.
The main purpose of the Master in Public Health is to train experts from different disciplines in the broad field of action in Public Health, who are able to cope with the different perspectives the population’s health conditions via promotion, protection and restoration community health interventions.
The Master is designed to contribute to the training via a high level syllabus, enabling the students to develop a reflective, humanist and critical thinking, in people who are clearly interested ion specializing from a broad and practical approach as well as in recently graduated students who are looking for initiating in some of them.
The Master in Public Health counts on a groundbreaking syllabus, focused on the scientific knowledge’s development and on research, that generates abilities and sustainable solutions to respond to the needs that exercising as a public health professional entails.
Who is the programme for?
The Master in Public Health program has two student profiles who although having different characteristics, have complementary points that enable to offer a comprehensive academic proposal:
- Professionals and graduates: specially graduates in the life sciences fields (medicine, nursing, biology, veterinary...), environmental sciences, statistics, economy, sociology, chemistry and pharmacy, among others; people who wish to obtain a training to develop public health actions in any of its fields (work or research).
- Other professionals and graduates: who are looking for a training that shows them the needed tools as to efficiently work in their job post offering the best service.
Diploma
Successful completion of the Program will enable you to be awarded the degree in Master in Public Health.
After successfully completing the Program, the student will receive the degree as awarded by the University where they have enrolled.

The credit structure of the Master in Public Health program is shown in the following table. It should be noted that the duration is merely indicative, as the methodology followed integrates the knowledge and skills to be acquired in each part through integrative exercises of knowledge acquisition and internalization of project practices:

a. The equivalence in credits may vary according to the university where he/she has enrolled. One (1) ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credit is equivalent to 10 + 15 hours. If the student is enrolled in a university that does not belong to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), the relation between credits - hours may vary.
Duration
La Master in Public Health tiene 90 créditos. La duración de la Master in Public Health es de 12 to 24 months. En este período de tiempo, el alumno tiene que haber superado con éxito todas las actividades evaluadas y aprobado el Proyecto Final.
Objectives
General Objective
- The objective of the Master in Public Health is to train professionals who are capable of coping with the main population’s health conditions with the design and management of group actions aimed at the promotion, restoration and protection of health, as to ensure people’s health with the needed quality and efficiency.
Specific Objectives
- Strengthening the theoretical-philosophical basis of nursing, with an emphasis on activities that favor the logical thinking and scientific reasoning.
- Estimating the population’s health needs to cover their real and potential needs, taking into account their social determinants and rights.
- Evaluating the health systems to be able to propose improvement strategies adapted to the population’s needs.
- Analyzing the economic, social determinants and the health policies and how they are integrated in the public health interventions.
- Designing and evaluating plans, programs, projects and services specific to the Public Health, basing on evidence, which promote, restore and protect population’s health.
- Being able to early detect health conditions and propose solutions to improve the quality of life.

Study Plan
The Master in Nursing with a Specialization in Health Management has a curricular structure based on three complementary training parts to get an integral education:
- 1st PART: RESEARCH ON PUBLIC HEALTH (18 CREDITS)
The first part is looking to deliver practical and theoretical training with updated knowledge on research, boosting the development of abilities to raise adequate research questions and acquire useful abilities and tools to develop research strategies that answer such questions.

- 4th PART: MASTER'S DEGREE FINAL PROJECT OR DEGREE THESIS (15 CREDITS)
The Master’s Degree Final Project or Degree Thesis, whose workload is 15 credits, has as its aim to present a complete essay that shows the total development of a project, that contemplates the possibility of its concrete implementation, according to the proposal’s guidelines and details.
