Of the three basic elements that comprise the environment: water, soil and air, water is related to 60% of current environmental issues, which explains its importance to life in general and to sustainable development.
As the population and living standards have increased along with the process of urban sprawal, the water supply problems have worsened, leading to confrontations between agriculture, urban water supply and industry.
From a practical approach, the Environmental Engineering: Industrial Water Residue Treatment program proposes to improve industrial water management (textile, paper, food, etc.) through conservation and more efficient use.
Who is the programme for?
The Environmental Engineering: Industrial Wastewater Management program is especially designed to satisfy two different types of groups:
- People without a degree who may want a quality education in this field for personal gain or experience.
- University graduates who, in addition to their current education, would like a practical specialization in industrial water management to broaden their career opportunities.
Diploma
Successful completion of the Program will enable you to be awarded the degree in Experto Universitario en INGENIERÍA AMBIENTAL: TRATAMIENTO DE AGUAS RESIDUALES INDUSTRIALES.
After successfully completing the Program, the student will receive the degree as awarded by the University where they have enrolled.

The duration of the program in Environmental Engineering: Industrial Wastewater Management varies between 6 and 9 months, depending on the student's dedication. In this period of time, the student must have successfully passed all the evaluated activities and approved the Final Project, if any.
Objectives
General Objective:
- To apply industrial wastewater treatment techniques in the industry, through proposals for modifying behavior as well as establishing guidelines to minimize waste as a result of industrial process.
Specific Objectives:
- To acquire a global vision of comprehensive water treatment, and more specifically, of wastewater generated by industrial activities (textiles, food products, paper, etc.).
- To relate the most suitable general purification processes and technologies and specific ones for each sector.
- To evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of modifying procedures, reducing emissions or recycling.
- To learn about the distinctive features of the different types of contamination generated by the main industrial sectors.
- To establish the bases for the adoption of good practices in the production processes.
- To propose water recycling models in the industry.
- To become familiar with water legislation as applicable to industry.
Career Opportunities
Some of the career opportunities of the Environmental Engineering: Industrial Wastewater Management program are the following:
- Industrial purifier operator.
- Small business purifier maintenance.
- Working in a municipality as a technician/advisor in industrial water management.
- Teaching.
Study Plan
The Environmental Engineering: Industrial Wastewater Management program is composed of one subject formed by ten chapters and two additional chapters, including practical case studies in the industrial use of water.
The course will allow the student to learn and understand, first, the theoretical, conceptual and historical fundaments involved in water management and, second, its organizational, social and technological implementation.
The objective is to ensure that students acquire a global vision of the management of industrial water use, through related multidisciplinary topics.

These subjects, are independent from each other, yet are structured according to a coherent pedagogical sequence that facilitates comprehension in order of increasing complexity. Every subject is divided in thematic units or chapters, the content of which includes printed material that must be studied in order to correctly answer the tests.
